Nancy Mahoney - April 2020

Author, teacher, and fabric designer, Nancy Mahoney has enjoyed making quilts for over thirty years. During this time, an impressive range of her beautiful quilts has been featured in many books and in over 200 national and international quilt magazines. She has created over 100 free patterns for a number of fabric manufacturers, designed 15 fabric collections for P&B Textiles and Clothworks, and written 14 books all published by Martingale.

Nancy has taught many workshops nationwide for guilds, shops, and conferences including Houston's International Quilt Festival, AQS Quiltweek, Road to California, and many more.

Nancy believes making a quilt should be fun. In her classes, her goal is for students to have a good time, learn something new, and make a quilt that they will enjoy for many years.

HALF DAY CLASS

Layer and fuse a floral appliqué without bulk or stiffness. Learn how to use fusible products to create blocks with artfully appliquéd stems, leaves, and flowers. Nancy's instructions will have you confidently completing your block even if you haven't machine appliquéd before. Block pattern included for each student. The pattern for Nancy's Knockout Roses quilt is in Quilting with Fat Quarters (Martingale, 2013).

This is the perfect class for any quilter who wants to learn how to make a Feathered Star block. Nancy takes students through a step-by-step class, with rotary cutting and piecing techniques for making accurate triangle squares. Her methods make short work of this tricky-looking block. This charming little quilt is one of Nancy's most popular designs. Class time begins with using strip piecing techniques to make the patchwork blocks. Then we'll shift our focus to easy invisible machine appliqué techniques. You'll receive tips for sewing accurate patchwork and all aspects of invisible machine appliqué. Learn how to use your sewing machine to achieve finished appliqués that look hand-stitched. Pattern included for each student. Finished size: 59" x 59". Based on Simple Circles and Quick Curves book.
